Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry comprises techniques which make teeth look nicer when you smile. For example cosmetic dentistry may remove deep stains or change the colour, position or shape of the teeth. As standard we use the AIR-FLOW air abrasion system to initially clean the teeth. It uses a jet with bicarb and water gently to remove dental plaque, deposits and stains.

We also have tooth whitening toothpaste which complements our whole range of tooth whitening / bleaching systems. We offer both power whitening for when you require whiter teeth immediately and custom whitening for a long lasting whitening solution.

Often the cosmetic dentistry request here at Birdgate Dental is simply for white, invisible fillings when replacing broken or worn amalgam fillings. We use state of the art materials which function, feel and look exactly like natural teeth.

Dental veneers

Dental veneers are new tooth surfaces attached permanently to the existing teeth to provide a better look, appear to straighten teeth and close gaps between teeth. These veneers are more durable and are expected to last 20 years.

Natural looking dentures

In all our work we try to make replacement teeth, whether they are dentures, veneers or crowns look as natural as possible. That dazzling Hollywood smile isn't right for everyone, certainly not as a new pair of dentures. Sometimes that requires some artistry to incorporate natural looking cracks, stains or fillings to suit. We can even create the smile you would have had if you had your own natural teeth.

Tooth straightening is, of course, offered for children and adults as part of a treatment plan, however the actual treatment is done by a colleague specialist in York.
