Day 6 started badly when I woke up with a VERY swollen lower lip - must have been something in the pizza the night before.
Still managed to get on the bike with sore ankles (Sarah) and sire knees (Lawrence). The first 30 miles passed nicely and then it was a slow plod onto the lunch stop at Market Drayton (home to gingerbread). We found an excellent bike shop BRENIN BIKES and decided to have the brake blocks replaced as they were looking low.
Whilst we waited for the new brake blocks, we sat in the lovely cafe inside the bike shop and had some lunch.
Chris the mechanic even cleaned down the bikes for us.
We set off again only to run into problems 3 miles up the road. Lawrence's tubeless rear tyre was hissing and letting out sealant. We decided to turn back and get it fixed in the bike shop. Again Chris the mechanic did an amazing job.
Whilst we waited for the tyre to be fixed, we popped into town. We found a physiotherapist who strapped Lawrence's knees.
It was a late finish (8pm) and we arrived at the most amazing hotel! The White Lion in Upton Upon Seven. We were blessed with an incredible room, complete with four poster bed and 4 seater sofa , 55" TV and best of all a BATH!
The food was amazing too and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Just what we needed to prepare for another day on the bikes.
